Have A Heart

Looking for something different for Valentine's Day? Why not try a heart of a different color? Think outside the norm!
I found this delightful "Cookie bouquet"

And was inspired to make this "Heart of a different color" Valentine

What do you think?

Workshop Cards

Well I'm back in workshop mode! These are the cards we "kinda, sorta" made at last nights workshop. Why kinda, sorta? Well when you take an almost two month break from doing workshops and you're into cards with lots of layers like I am - you tend to forget something.

Now I can modify a card if I forgot pop dots or ribbons, no problem!

But what kind of empty headed demo forgets the stamp set!?! This one - yep I forgot my Flight of the Butterfly set! So we had to use a retired stamp that the hostess had to do the butterflies, very embarassing!!!!!

This sample uses Pink Pirouette, Tangerine Tango, Sweet Always paper, and the Flight of the Butterfly set.

Now before you yell at me about this one, I KNOW it's not completely SU because SU doesn't sell Cuttlebug folders - but my customers know about the CB they're not as comfortable with the Big Shot so...... I showed them that anything they might have for the CB will work in the BS too, however not everything for the BS will work in the CB - savvy? This card is Whisper White, Real Red, and the Always set.

This card was also done with the Always set, using Taken with Teal, Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal, B.Black and W.White, the technique is the Magic Snowflake technique.

Altered Mardi Gras

It's time for another WishRak secret friend exchange! I {heart} these exchanges! In true WishRak fashion people remember the true meaning of a "RAK" and for those of you who don't know what that means it's "Random Act of Kindness" it's spoiling someone just for the per joy of it. In the case of WishRak it's basically exchanging stamped images - which helps when you just want to play with a few images without investing in a whole set that you may not love or if you plain just don't have the funds to invest in a stamp or the whole set.

But anyway, back to this month's exchange - we're celebrating Mardi Gras! How cool is that!?!
We have few basic rules to follow but the basics are, include the following:

1.One altered item in the colors of purple, green, and gold or any shades thereof.
So how about an altered McDonalds drink container, made into a mini "Spa Container?"
With some bath salts, a candle, some Vitamin E hand cream, and some chocolate of course!

2. A “trinket” this is something small, a pin, a hand beaded something, a small sun catcher, let your imagination run here.
So how about an altered piece of shell from the beading section and an altered Altoids mint box to each it in?
I used my alcohol inks on the shell and it was so cool! Some of the shell soaked up the ink like you wouldn't believe and other spots were lighter, finished it off with some rub on's, a rhinestone, and then I spray sealed it just in case. I place it on ribbon, but my secret friend could put it on a chain if she wants to. Or she could re-rak if she hates it!

3. A small treat, something unique, to represent “Fat Tuesday” donuts, king cakes, or pancakes. Try to think of something unique to your area, maple syrup, a special candy, something only available in your state/area.
This one's not done yet ;~)

4. Choose your "favor" by listing your top five wishes.
I'd tell you what I've bought, but my secret friend might guess who has her name :~)

Yikes! I didn't realize...

It's been almost a week since I updated!!! So sorry about that!

It's crunch time at work so I'm doing an extra hour or so everyday there, plus I'm gearing up for the new SU! Spring/Summer catty, still taking care of my mom, DS is still home from college, BUT I did get time to make some new goodies to share :)
The first is a Pie Box that the Michigan Mingle gals were challenged to. I wheeled all of the cardstock, then cuttlebugged just the lid, added some cute ribbon and scallops - isn't it cute?

These two cards are done with Tea Bag Staining and a "vintage" look, what do you think?

Happy New Year My Friends

As most of you who's talked to me often know, WishRak is one of my favorite SCS features. WishRak allows you to "wish" for images that you'd like to play with but don't necessarily want to buy or store.

Over the New Year's holiday I worked with 19 other women to bring a challenge every hour to create cards for troops stationed over sea's.

It amazes me that the men and women stationed over there do not have access to birthday cards, thinking of you cards, anniversary cards, etc. Now they do have full access to email and get to email family, but sometimes you just *need* to send you son, daughter, mom, dad, wife, husband, something more personal - KWIM? Something tangible that they can know you touched before them.

This is one of my favorite cards that I made for this cause, my inspiration for it came from the Canadian Flag. The image came through WishRak, now I love this image, but I probably wouldn't use it enough to purchase it.
