Domestic Goddess Suite

The Creative Crew challenge this month included using the Domestic Goddess suite. I altered a cup carrier from DQ to make the gift packaging, altered a pocket folder into a coupon holder, and altered a calendar book for important dates. The package will include a plant, some dish towels, and of course the necessary candy ;)

My Change Purse

I love to alter things, I need to use up some of my stash, my Altoid Tin fell apart after using it for change for about three years.... So I guess that's a recipe for a new one! Lookie, it originally had a small maglight packaged in it!

This One's For My Girl

My Mingler pals will recognize the "rules" right off, but I had to literally laugh out loud when my Kaitlin came to me out of the blue one day and announced "Mom, Boys are DUMB!" Yep, sweetie they can be, however they're still an important part of our lives. While Jeff and I were camping a few weeks ago and I was waiting for him while he was in class I set out to make this for Katie. When I got home she and I finished it together and this is what she came up with.

All Because Of Blueberry Crisp

This month the Creative Crew was challenged to use the DSP Blueberry Crisp. Now I must admit, this particular DSP is not my normal cup of tea, however I'm pretty pleased with this ensemble overall - Thanks for Looking!

Recycled Signs

I've had these wooden signs a while. Originally they had a vintage bathroom theme on them. I stripped that off, repainted them, mod podged the Woodland Walk DSP, added the Decor Element word, some older SU twill ribbon & felt flowers, then some charms and punches for embellishments. I think I may give this to my niece as a house warming gift ;)

This month the SCS Creative Crew challenged us to recycle or re-use something. I had some clear cubes, leftover from Heaven only knows what, I used the Ice Cream Parlor DSP, buttons, and ribbon to turn them into gift baskets! I also did some tag art to go along with them.

Inside the box was a recycled candle ring, done in a spring motif:

Altered Treat containers

I LOVE this new set, From the Crypt! Pair it with the Cast a Spell DS paper and even my 16 yo DD was saying "cool skull mom" be still my heart!!!

This is a pringles can, stamped on Perfect Plum C/S and added the Cast a Spell papers, easy peasy!

A little more work to this one, it's an altered styrofoam coffee cup, I made a template by first wrapping a piece of print paper around it, tracing the cup, then I cut out my pattern and traced that onto my c/s.

This is what the coffee cup looks like with the lid on it.

Baby Series #2

The second "home made" gift I came up with for my friend expecting twins - Banks!

I found the jars at Hobby Lobby on sale for $2.00 each, DH cut slots in the lids, and I added the SU Nursery Necessities Decor Elements.

Baby Series #1

One of my SCS WishRak friends is expecting Twin Boys anyday now! We're holding a "cyber baby shower" for her and we have to include something homemade, here's the first one I came up with, it's a magnet photo frame that I altered into a plaque.

Wanna see something made by me?

Here ya go!

The first one is the Rustic Rooster Hostess set from SU! Isn't he handsome?

The second one is the retired In Full Bloom set and papers from SU! I had to learn to love this set, now that I do, it's not going anywhere ;)

The third one is my "Magic Tissue" technique, using a napkin from my friend, co-worker and customer Sandy - she loves to challenge me to use printed napkins and kleenex, so far I've risen to every challenge :))))

Too Cute!

In early February a bunch of us from SCS got together in Port Huron for Lunch, after lunch we went to Hobby Lobby who had these darling little pails. Now I could get pails with ribbon for $2.99 each or I could get pails without ribbon for $0.79 - now this is a no brainer to me, but what ones would you get?

Heck I've got ribbon, I've got a Crop-a-dile, I got the $0.79 ones!!!! It went from a plain pink pail with nothing to this:

What do you think???

Do you think my fellow Michigan Minglers will likey?

What's New?

Hmmm...I'm trying to remember what I've shown you lately....

Have I shown you this lovely?

It's a little gable box that I got in the $$$ Store and had three in a pack.
I wheeled the new "Friendly Word" Jumbo wheel onto it, then I colored the background with Copics, then I stamped the bird with black onto Orchid, cut him out and layered him over the background for some dimension - he's much prettier in real life ;)

Pick Your Poison

As long as it's chocolate that is :~)
What do you think of my Faux Gumball Machines? There's no gum in them chocolate is so much better, don't you agree?
So I'm really, really, really - REALLY REALLY - curious which one is your favorite?
Here's a group shot:

Altered Mardi Gras

It's time for another WishRak secret friend exchange! I {heart} these exchanges! In true WishRak fashion people remember the true meaning of a "RAK" and for those of you who don't know what that means it's "Random Act of Kindness" it's spoiling someone just for the per joy of it. In the case of WishRak it's basically exchanging stamped images - which helps when you just want to play with a few images without investing in a whole set that you may not love or if you plain just don't have the funds to invest in a stamp or the whole set.

But anyway, back to this month's exchange - we're celebrating Mardi Gras! How cool is that!?!
We have few basic rules to follow but the basics are, include the following:

1.One altered item in the colors of purple, green, and gold or any shades thereof.
So how about an altered McDonalds drink container, made into a mini "Spa Container?"
With some bath salts, a candle, some Vitamin E hand cream, and some chocolate of course!

2. A “trinket” this is something small, a pin, a hand beaded something, a small sun catcher, let your imagination run here.
So how about an altered piece of shell from the beading section and an altered Altoids mint box to each it in?
I used my alcohol inks on the shell and it was so cool! Some of the shell soaked up the ink like you wouldn't believe and other spots were lighter, finished it off with some rub on's, a rhinestone, and then I spray sealed it just in case. I place it on ribbon, but my secret friend could put it on a chain if she wants to. Or she could re-rak if she hates it!

3. A small treat, something unique, to represent “Fat Tuesday” donuts, king cakes, or pancakes. Try to think of something unique to your area, maple syrup, a special candy, something only available in your state/area.
This one's not done yet ;~)

4. Choose your "favor" by listing your top five wishes.
I'd tell you what I've bought, but my secret friend might guess who has her name :~)

WishRak Secret Santa

I made this piece of Framed Art for my WishRak friend Debi, aka bottomphish. I didn't even think to picture of it myself so she was sweet enough to do it for me. I SOOOOO want this Santa Stamp, but no place around me sells him :( So I depend on my WishRak friends that are lucky enough to own him to keep me well stocked ;)

I found the poem on the internet - hope you likey!
