Red, White, and True Blue

Aren't these just too cute!!!
I wanted to make some decorations for the 4th of July and I found the patterns for both of these items at www.marthastewart.com - but I'll warn you her site is screwy to use!
Anyway I'll attempt to tell you what I did to make these.

The Stand Alone star:
I had a template for a 5 pointed star about 5 or 6 inches in size.

I started with Whisper White cardstock that I wheeled with the Petals Jumbo wheel in Real Red and Night of Navy, then cut out three stars. Then on matching red and navy cardstock I cut out one of each color. I scored the stars down the middle from the top point to the valley in between the bottom points. Then I layered the stars in this order Red, White, Blue, White, White, glued them together and stood them up! You will have two of the same colors line up and I choose to go with white or you could cut out a sixth star an alternate more colors - I just liked it with five points on the table to match the five points of the star.

This "bouquet" is made up of "Snowflake stars" again the directions came from Martha, but I'll try to explain what I did. I started with Whisper white cardstock - you DON'T want anything heavier than that! - Actually double sided patterned paper is perfect, but again I wanted Red, White, and blue so I made my own using my wheels and by just "swiping" my inkpads over the cardstock. My stars started out 4 1/2" x 8" but you could do 6 x 6 or 8 x 8, whatever your lenght make sure it's an even number, your width you can play with. Anyway, score your length at one inch intervals, then fan fold or accordian fold it, staple it in the middle, for me that was 2 1/4" so my "petals" are each 2 1/4" in height. Use sticky strip or some kind of super sticky tape and pull your petals apart and tape them together to form the star. Then I added a circle punch center in the center of each star, I put a glue dot on the back of each star to attach my dowel. My dowels were colored by rolling them in my inkpads. Then I put some sand in a empty candle jar, stuck my dowels in and decorated the jar!

These a great in Christmas colors, but imagine them in school colors for a sports thing or graduation open house, or a baby/bridal shower, or a birthday party! The possibilities are endless! Well I'm off to a horse now!!!!

Yum For Plum!

One of my favorite authors is Janet Evanovich! If you haven’t heard about her Stephanie Plum series you’re missing out on some “Laugh Out Loud” reading!!!

You can check out the “Plum” series and Janet’s website here > http://evanovich.com/index.html

Now what kind of challenge involves Stephanie Plum? Well I’d like to tell you that Morelli or Ranger figure in somehow, but like Stephanie I can't choose between them! Or maybe that it involves donuts, but alas I couldn’t figure out how to stamp with a donut (and I really tried, just for all of you, but I ended up eating my supplies!)

So… in honor of Janet’s creative use of numbers, my challenge to you is to use numbers in your card – chipboard numbers, tag numbers, sticker numbers, die cut numbers, any kind of numbers!!!

This was my sample:

New stuff as promised!

I promised you some new goodies this weekend, so here's what I've been for the latest SCS VSN mini, check it out here > SCS VSN Challenges

You've got two weeks to play along with us!

This first one is stamped then cuttledbugged for the "So Speaks the Heart" Challenge.

This one is for the ***Ghost Writers*** challenge

This one was for the "Check it out…….return by due date." pocket card challenge

Hope you can play with us!!!

Yikes I've been ignoring you!

Sorry I haven't been around for the past couple of weeks!
First, the weather here is screwy and it's really effecting my internet provider!
Second, I've had the mother of all spring colds!!!
Third, my stamp corner is still a little out of sorts for me.
And lastly, my kids have had me running all the time!

Now I do have some new goodies but I can't unveil them until Friday night - so to tide you over here's a napkin holder that I've altered:

And here's a birthday card that I made for my brother

Wanna Play Tag?

My friend Debra tagged me today, so I guess that means I'm it? To be honest, this is the first time I've been tagged since I started blogging! Check out Deb's blog here > http://www.debrasstamplife.blogspot.com/

So if I understand this right there are 5 things you're supposed to do once you've been tagged.

1- Life 10 years ago...My baby was just starting kindergarten, my boys would have been 7 & 10! I've always worked full time, being SAHM just wasn't in the cards for me, so I would've been working 24 hours a day! Plus I would have just discovered stamping & scrapping :)
2- 5 things on today's 'to-do' list...1) LAUNDRY it's always on the to do list. 2) Sweep and mop my kitchen, this cold this week has kicked my butt! 3) Go to DD's Horse Show. 4) Get groceries, again alwasys on the list! 5) Finish cleaning my stamp corner, and stamp.
3- Snacks that I enjoy...1) Right now? Caramel ricecakes. 2) I love Dorito's! 3) Love red licorice, 4) Trail mix with more peanuts and M & M's than raisins!!!
4- Things I would do if I were a millionaire... Get my kids through colllege! Get my parents live in help, and Travel to Europe!
5- Places I have lived...I was born and bred in Sanilac County and I've never lived anywhere else!

Okay...Now who gets tagged next?! I know a lot of blogs have been tagged in the past, so if I'm tagging you again forgive me, however here's some blogs that I like to peek into, check them out!

Window card

This week's challenge was to make a "window card" fancy way of saying punch a hole in your card front and stamp on the inside of the card ;)
I love the new Bloomin' Beautiful set and the bee peeking through the "window" was just perfect!

Elegant Summer Rust!

Sorry for being so inattentive lately - life continues to be a zoo!!!

Here's a sneak peek of the upcoming new stamp release from SU! Fresh Cuts - you're gonna love this one ladies!!!!

The challenge was to make a card using a color combo straight from the Color Coach, but outside of your comfort zone - Well that would be any yellow for me and Summer Sun is right up there!!!
However, I must say that the Really Rust works with the Eggplant - go figure!!!
